Is Alta Badia (Dolomiti Superski) worth it?

Every December the Gran Risa slope at La Villa holds a World Cup giant slalom -- one of the steepest, best-known runs in the Dolomites. It is the exception, because most of Alta Badia skis the opposite way: calm, wide and full of view. The resort lies in South Tyrol, below the Sassongher rock tower, and sits inside the vast Dolomiti Superski area.

In our measurement from OpenStreetMap it comes to about 150 km of pistes, clearly weighted toward easy runs. This is terrain for long, gentle turns rather than for finding something steep. The Sella Ronda starts here too -- a circuit around the Sella massif that takes you through four valleys in a day, lift by lift.

The valley villages sit at around 1,340 m and the lifts climb to nearly 2,673 m, so the vertical is large and the snow up top holds well even in milder winters. The season usually runs from December to April.

The price we give is a six-day adult ticket for the Alta Badia area alone -- €404 from the high-season rate list (checked 13 August 2026). The joint Dolomiti Superski pass, covering all the valleys at once, costs more. Check prices with the operator before you travel. The drive from Poland is, per OpenStreetMap, about 1,011 km from Wrocław, 890 from Katowice and 965 from Kraków.
