Is La Clusaz worth it?
La Clusaz is a traditional Savoyard village in the Aravis range, near Annecy and the Swiss border. It still looks like a mountain settlement rather than a ski factory -- a church at its centre, houses of wood and stone -- though the skiing spreads over five neighbouring peaks.
In our measurement from OpenStreetMap it comes to about 101 km of pistes, one of the larger areas in this set. The runs are mostly easy and intermediate, but between the peaks there is plenty of advanced terrain and prized freeride too.
The slopes reach around 2,350 m and the village sits at nearly 1,100 m; its position close to a pass means it catches a good deal of snow, though snowmaking helps here too. The season usually runs from December to April.
