Runs by difficulty

  • blue 69.6 km
  • red 146.5 km
  • black 29.2 km

The split comes from OpenStreetMap. A run with no difficulty tag falls into none of the three bars, so they can add up to less than the resort total.

This is a geographic map, not the painted panorama a resort publishes: the runs are where they really are, but the mountain is not drawn as a bird’s-eye view.

The colours under the axis show school-holiday traffic per week of winter 2026/2027, from the holidays chapter — the curve is a long-term average, the traffic is this one season. A green band marks a quiet week in a month with at least 70 % of the snowiest month’s snowfall. This season: 7 Dec – 20 Dec, 11 Jan – 31 Jan, 1 Mar – 14 Mar.

This is snowfall, not snow depth on the slope: it says how much usually falls in a given month, not how much lies there. The measuring point sits close to the valley floor, so higher up it snows more.

Places to stay by the lift

Distance is measured in a straight line to the base station of the nearest lift. No booking site publishes that number — it comes from matching accommodation against lift geometry.

  • 30 within 300 m
  • 198 within 1 km
  • 723 places in the valley

The closest one stands 66 m from a lift.

Is Zillertal Arena worth it?

Zillertal Arena is one of four separate ski areas in the Zillertal valley — it runs from Zell am Ziller through Gerlos to Königsleiten, already on the Salzburg side. It advertises one of the longest descents in the region, a run of more than ten kilometres from above Gerlos down the valley. This is terrain for clocking up kilometres, not for hunting steep faces.

In our measurement from OpenStreetMap it comes to about 170 km of pistes, with a clear majority of intermediate runs — there are more reds here than anything else, and few blacks. For a confident intermediate it is comfortable ground; anyone after steepness will find little of it.

The slopes lie lower than the high French resorts and drop to the valley floor at around 1,270 m, so snow here depends more on snowmaking and weather than it does on glaciers. The season usually runs from early December to mid-April.

We give the ski pass as a six-day adult ticket: €399 from the resort's rate list (checked 13 August 2026). Check prices with the operator before you travel. The drive from Poland is one of the shortest in this set: about 900 km from Wrocław, 875 from Katowice, 951 from Kraków.
