  • blue 21.0 km

The split comes from OpenStreetMap. A run with no difficulty tag falls into none of the three bars, so they can add up to less than the resort total.

This is snowfall, not snow depth on the slope: it says how much usually falls in a given month, not how much lies there. The measuring point sits close to the valley floor, so higher up it snows more.

Places to stay by the lift

Distance is measured in a straight line to the base station of the nearest lift. No booking site publishes that number — it comes from matching accommodation against lift geometry.

  • 1 within 300 m
  • 38 within 1 km
  • 65 places in the valley

The closest one stands 167 m from a lift.

What makes San Martino di Castrozza different

San Martino di Castrozza sits in the Primiero valley, directly under the wall of the Pale di San Martino — the largest massif in the Dolomites — with the Cimon della Pala spire that people call the Matterhorn of the Dolomites. It is one of the older, more elegant resorts in these mountains, and a high one: the base station stands at about 1,600 m, well above most of the Italian resorts on this list.

The skiing spreads across two areas — Tognola on the sunny side and Ces toward the Passo Rolle. Together that is 49 runs and 14 lifts, most of them easy or intermediate: 26 blue, 21 red and only 2 black. This is a mountain for quietly putting down kilometres beneath the Dolomite wall rather than hunting steep terrain; the area is part of Dolomiti Superski.

The altitude shows in the snow. December brings around 92 cm on average, November 80, and even March sees close to 80 — for this part of Italy it is one of the more snow-sure resorts in the set. The season runs from early December to April. Above the resort, the Passo Rolle also has cross-country trails.

A six-day adult ski pass in high season costs €358 (the official San Martino–Passo Rolle pricelist, checked August 2026), €322 outside the peak; check prices with the operator before you travel, as they change each season. The drive from Poland runs through Austria and the Brenner — about 1,050 km from Katowice, 1,071 from Wrocław, 1,124 from Kraków.
