Andermatt-Sedrun (SkiArena), Switzerland
Uri i Gryzonia
Runs by difficulty
- blue 86.2 km
- red 95.3 km
- black 71.5 km
The split comes from OpenStreetMap. A run with no difficulty tag falls into none of the three bars, so they can add up to less than the resort total.

This is snowfall, not snow depth on the slope: it says how much usually falls in a given month, not how much lies there. The measuring point sits close to the valley floor, so higher up it snows more.

Places to stay by the lift
Distance is measured in a straight line to the base station of the nearest lift. No booking site publishes that number — it comes from matching accommodation against lift geometry.

- 8 within 1 km
- 44 places in the valley
The closest one stands 260 m from a lift.

Is Andermatt-Sedrun (SkiArena) worth it?
Andermatt sits at a crossroads of passes in the Gotthard massif, and its signature is the Gemsstock — a steep, largely ungroomed face people come to for off-piste rather than smooth blues. A rail line and the road over the Oberalp pass link Andermatt with Sedrun on the far side, so one pass covers two valleys. The resort has been rebuilt extensively in recent years and now belongs to the Vail group.
In our measurement from OpenStreetMap it comes to about 150 km of pistes, and the share of blacks and hard runs is noticeably larger than at family resorts — the Gemsstock pulls the balance toward the advanced end. The easy slopes are mostly on the Sedrun side and suit learning. If you want to ski the Gemsstock, this is not a resort for a first week on snow.
The lift climbs to 2,955 m and the valley floor lies at 1,437 m, so the vertical is large and the snow up high holds well. The Gotthard catches a lot of precipitation — the passes stand across moist flows — and the season usually runs from early December to mid-April.
Ski passes here are sold dynamically: the price depends on the date and how early you buy, so no single figure would be true. The prices are in francs and we do not convert them; check with the operator before you travel. The drive from Poland: about 1,028 km from Wrocław, 1,178 from Katowice, 1,253 from Kraków.
