Is St. Moritz worth it?

St. Moritz lies in the high Engadin valley in Graubünden and is regarded as the cradle of Alpine winter tourism. It has hosted the Winter Olympics twice, carries a reputation as a luxury resort, and above the town stretches the Corviglia slope, looking out over the Engadin lakes.

In our measurement from OpenStreetMap it comes to about 99 km of pistes. Most runs are intermediate, sunny and wide -- the Engadin is famous for its weather, often bright and dry when the north side of the Alps is under cloud. Beyond Corviglia the pass covers neighbouring sectors of the valley.

The runs reach above 3,300 m, and the town sits high, at around 1,800 m, so the snow holds well. The season usually runs from December to April.

The lift-pass price at St. Moritz is dynamic -- the resort sets it by day and by how far ahead you buy, cheaper in advance, so we give no single figure; check it with the operator as you book. The drive from Poland is, per OpenStreetMap, about 1,035 km from Wrocław, 1,058 from Katowice and 1,134 from Kraków.
