Is Monterosa Ski worth it?

Monterosa Ski spreads across three neighbouring valleys -- Gressoney, Ayas and Alagna -- tied together by lifts at the foot of the Monte Rosa massif, on the border of the Aosta Valley and Piedmont. It is less crowded than the big Italian resorts, valued above all for its extensive off-piste terrain.

In our measurement from OpenStreetMap it comes to about 71 km of marked pistes, but it is the freeride that makes its name -- long descents from the pass above Alagna draw skiers after deep snow. The groomed runs are mostly intermediate.

The lifts reach above 3,200 m and the valleys lie high, so the snow holds well. The season usually runs from December to April.

The price we give is a one-day adult ticket -- €70 from the high-season counter rate list (checked 14 August 2026). Check prices with the operator before you travel. The drive from Poland is, per OpenStreetMap, about 1,320 km from Wrocław, 1,409 from Katowice and 1,484 from Kraków.
