Runs by difficulty

  • blue 48.4 km
  • red 53.0 km
  • black 39.6 km

The split comes from OpenStreetMap. A run with no difficulty tag falls into none of the three bars, so they can add up to less than the resort total.

This is a geographic map, not the painted panorama a resort publishes: the runs are where they really are, but the mountain is not drawn as a bird’s-eye view.

Prices are dynamic — they depend on the day you ski and how early you buy, so there is no single number to give. Check the resort’s price list.

This is snowfall, not snow depth on the slope: it says how much usually falls in a given month, not how much lies there. The measuring point sits close to the valley floor, so higher up it snows more.

Is Formigal worth it?

Formigal is one of the largest ski areas in the Pyrenees, spread across four valleys above Sallent de Gállego in Aragón, just below the Portalet pass on the French border. A single ticket links it to neighbouring Panticosa. The Pyrenees have a reputation for gentle skiing -- here it is not entirely deserved.

In our measurement from OpenStreetMap it comes to about 126 km of pistes, and hard runs are the largest share of them -- more than the easy ones. This is terrain for confident skiers, who in the Alps would drive much further for it. The four sectors give plenty of room and slopes facing several ways.

The slopes are open and exposed to the wind off the Atlantic, which can bring heavy snow but also close the lifts. The season usually runs from December to April.

The lift-pass price at Formigal is dynamic -- the operator, Aramón, sets it online by date, so we give no single figure; check it with the operator as you book. The drive from Poland is long: per OpenStreetMap about 2,105 km from Wrocław, 2,268 from Katowice and 2,344 from Kraków.
